Quote of the week...

Image
Here it is, the first quote of the week for 2024, I hope this one adds some wisdom to get us running. Hope it can be applied by someone out there. It goes a little something like this: "The greatest changes are brought about by a multitude of small actions over much time and consideration..." J.B. Sommerset Cheers!

Welcome to 2024, hold onto your butts...

Well, we made it. Here we are in 2024, I waited a couple of days to make sure it was legit. Apparently it is, we have passed through another segment of time to the next micro-epoch of the 2020's. With how weird it has gotten since 2016, its anyone's guess what's next. I mean, it's been escalating in weirdness for a while now. One of my favorite authors is Kurt Vonnegut, I have read his catalogue of strange stories and oddities, the man's entire collection of works. Some of the most interesting and down right bazaar stories. But I have to say, not even he could have prepared me for how strange the future actually is.  So, here comes 2024, strap in and open your mind, things are about to get stranger, especially because it's an election year here in the good old U-S-of-A, and that means "double-play" for the circus monkeys and spin doctors. The stories we might encounter could just break us. All you creators out there might find your self lacking next t

God knows we could all use some change from last year. So here it is, the changing of the guard. Here comes 2024, I hope you are all wearing your plot armor.  Cheers!

Happy New Year!

There's no easy way to say this... I think we should see other people and years. It's not you, it's me, 2022. I don't think we have anything in common anymore. I need room to grow, and I don't think you can offer me that. We can still be friends, it's just that I need more from a year. It's time to go, my Uber is here... yes. Yes, that is 2023. I am sorry. I didn't want it to happen, I wasn't looking for a new year but there it was. It just happened. I have to go. Look, I am sure you will be fine, but the heart wants what the heart wants. Maybe I will see you around. Goodbye, 2022. (Photo credit Jill Wellington) Cheers!

Good advice for the up and coming...

I have always said that a talent that is never used, never released to the world, and never seen is a wasted talent. It's a truth that we all need to make a living, at least for most of us, and as much as we would like to sit around in coffee shops writing and drawing, there are still bills to be paid. In other words, we simply cannot take the time off to write the next great novel.  We all hope, we wish, and we dream, that we will write a book or screenplay that the world will recognize, and then proceed to throw some money at us. At the very least, enough to get us out of the 9-5 lifestyle.  The hard part is making sure the right people see it and then proceed to buy it. For most of us, that is the dream- to work at what we love and not have to stress about bills in the meantime.  A friend of mine emailed me a video, he always thinks that I need to better market my work and always has good advice. This little gem is from " Gary Goldstein ", and it has some good advice a

The process; this is how it happens...

A number of my friends have been asking me to do this for a while, but finding the time has been difficult. However, I realize that it's not the finding of the time that's difficult, it's the making of the time. If we wait around until the time is free, we will never have time to do anything- we must make time for the things that are priorities in our lives, for me, this is one of them. After much begging from family and friends, I finally did it, and I must admit it was both a learning experience and also a very enjoyable project. Below is the full timelapse of the last work of art I drew ( Alithaer The Grandfather tree from Umbria ). The whole project took about three hours. I did it in fifteen-minute chunks over a number of days. The hard part was finding the right software for the job (I will be posting a review on that someday soon).  When all was said and done I had about ten videos, fifteen minutes each. Once I got the hang of the software, the rest was history. I th

Lets start with some art...

This year started off really busy. I have been scanning more and more art, I have been updating my manuscript, and I have been indulging, and educating myself in the world of laser artwork. Some of that art I scanned has ended up on cutting boards, which look great now! Nothing like a good sanding, cool burned design, and new finish to bring them back to life. I have also been working on some videos too, but we will get to that as the year unfolds. Keep an eye out for those.  Right now, I want to take some time and say "Welcome to the new year, we have high hopes for you, don't let us down 2022." To start off this year here is some of my artwork for you all to enjoy, and as always it will be posted in the gallery. Cheers my friends and keep on writing!
