Quote of the week...

"Trillium" (Photo credit: J.B. Sommerset 2024) My last quote of the week was about how mankind fails at happiness because he destroys it to find more. Part of the reason for this is that we also have no gratitude, instead we have anger, and a lot of it. So, here's your quote of the week: "It's a shame so many people prioritize anger over gratitude, no wonder there is so much pain in the world- that's what we have made a priority..." J.B.   "Shroom Twins" (Photo Credit: J.B. Sommerset 2024) Sometimes it's good to reflect on the state of happiness in the world. Sometimes it's good to take a blook around and see who is and who isn't happen and why. No matter the reason chances are the problem is one of personal view points. This one is mine, I might have posted this back in the 2023s, but I think it deserves a repost today. So here it is, your quote of the day: "Mankind seems to be the only animal on the planet that will ruin his happiness and wellbeing in the pursuit of more happiness and wellbeing..." J.B. Sommerset Cheers!

We have a "ghostly" review...

Sometimes I go looking for shows with certain actors in them just to see what those gifted sons a bitches are up to. I feel certain actors deserve follow up. This week I got curious about our favorite malcontented sheriff from Duffer-ville: David Harbour of Stranger Things . So, what has good old Jim Hopper been up to recently? David is one of those actors who's in more movies than most people think. He just shows up, does a fairly good job and then fades into the background like " Homer Simpson into that hedge" . David's filmography is fairly long, and he's in a number of my favorite shows and movies. From Stranger Things to the Marvel franchise he does a little for everyone. And who could forget one of my favorite quirky, gorey, and slapstick Christmas Movies- Violent Night ? But what has he been up to recently?  The good news is he's still acting. A quick search revealed a couple of new movies and some Netflix work. So, I decided to indulge. You might h

Art Credit: JB Sommerset (c) (2023) Here is a little number from the time in my life when I thought I was all wise and understood everthing, still, I kind of like this one. This quote has merit. It's from one of my old journals, I revisit them often to see if I am, any wiser and not just a lot older.  "There is a sadness in the action of change and transformation that can only truly be understood when viewed through the lens of hindsight, time, and the accompanied context of history. All things change, its an immutable fact, understanding them is all we can hope for." J.B. Sommerset Cheers!

Bi-weekly audio book!

Image
I recently watched " The Fall of the House of Usher " on Netflix, loved it BTWs and wrote a review of it which can be found here . It got me thinking... I might have missed some of other stories created by the same author. That's right, you know who I mean, Edgar Allan Poe . I will still contend that I am not a E.A.P. super fan. Hell I have barely read a couple of his stories, but the mini-series was so good that I decided to give it another go. So, this week I bring some of his short stories to the table for the listening. I hope you enjoy this collection.  Cheers!

Bi-weekly audio book!

Okay, now that the holidays are over, it's back to our regularly scheduled program. An audio book every other week for those of us who don't have the time to read. This week we lean on the classics- Jules Verne . I think I have posted this one before, a long, long time ago. As with most good books they deserve a second time around, maybe a third, maybe we just keep reading them again and again our whole lives and enjoy them more and more- they age like fine wine. The older the better. Anyway, this week I am going to be "digging" down deep and journeying to the center of our world with "A journey to the Interior of the Earth" (Also known as "Journey to the Center of the Earth"). I hope you all enjoy this one, as a kid it was one of my favorites.  Cheers!

I think I posted this one a while ago. A long while ago. But being that we just that "Halloween", I thought about posting it, but wasn't sure that I should. I try not to be stale here on the site and avoid repeating myself. So I wasn't going to repost. Then I watched " Renfield " just before Halloween, and decided I had to repost the original story by " Bram Stoker ". That's right, the bi-weekly audiobook this week is " Dracula " by Bram Stoker (Incidentally if you haven't seen "Renfield", it's fun entertainment, it's good for a laugh or two, a great Saturday night movie).  Cheers!

Quote of the week...

Here's one for all the people out there who would rather see the world as it is, than view it through all the filters that remove the ugly imperfections and blemishes. Here's to those people who would rather be troglodytes than pull their phone out to snapshot their food, or scroll through their Facebook feed at a funeral, the people who want the real connections to the monetized ones. This one is for you... "No wonder the world is dying of loneliness and a broken heart. Every time it tries to have an intimate moment with someone, they pull out their phone and try and exploit that sacred moment for 'likes', 'views', and 'subscriptions'..." J.B. Sommerset Cheers!

Quote of the week...

This one goes out to anyone who has ever had to grind to make a living. The kind of grinding you can only get from working as a line chef at the local truck stop, you know, where "Larry" is the name of every third person through the door. Where the coffee is hard, like concrete, and the eggs are what you eat when you have an overnighter to Tulsa and don't want to shit your pants.  "Maybe, if you work hard enough at doing nothing, that has no meaning, purpose, or importance... Maybe one day you'll be able to tell other people how to do nothing, and you'll get paid more to do it." J.B. Sommerset Cheers!

Here's this week's quote of the week, it comes from my observation of the people that I know, specifically two people I know, this is how they lived, thankfully they didn't die this way, instead they separated. It was a train wreck for all those around them, and thankfully half of it is over. "In a house with two narcissists and one mirror, there will be murder..." J.B. Sommerset Cheers!
