Bi-weekly audio book!

It has been more than two weeks since I posted my last audio book, there is a very good reason for that, I have been living out of boxes, but that time is coming to an end. I am moved into my new place, killer view, lots of animals. As soon as I am all unpacked and settled, posts will come more often. Also I will be fining the time this fall to update the site, change the merch stores around and create a more user friendly interface. For now, I give you the first audio book from the new digs. 

I haven't done this one before, I really don't know why, it was one of my favorites as a kid. This week, it's a very, very, very old classic, one from the Islamic golden age: One Thousand and One Nights, translation by Maxfield Parrish. I hope you all enjoy.

While straggling through the wilderness of Netflix shows the other day I came across " The Three Body Problem ". I know of story, mostly of the Chinese novel   by the same name. It's on my reading list, I just haven't gotten to it yet. My list is pretty big, so I prioritize which ones I will read first. This one was high on my list, and that hasn't changed. I suspect there is more in the book than there was in the show. Normally I don't like to watch the show before I read the book, but in this case, I didn't see any good options- There's not much on Netflix I haven't seen, at least from a critical stand point. Dream Scenario... The weirdest Nicholas Cage movie ever made.

Before I get started, let me express that I have not seen all of Nicholas Cages movies so I can't say for sure if this is the strangest one, but damn, it's up there. Lets get started. Okay, I admit it, Nicholas Cage is one of my guilty pleasures. For the most part, I don't think his movies are good, in fact his acting is, well, something... The thing is his movies are fun. Very fun, even the ones that get " meme " status. He has a habit of not taking much seriously. In truth, he actually can act, well sometimes. I think he just operates a little differently than most of us. When he's on, he's on, and when he's not, he's still on- success even with his failures.  This last weekend I stumbled across a movie I didn't expect out of Nicholas Cage. Alone in the woods... with my thoughts.

"Up in the woods" J.B. Sommerset (c) 2025 Sometimes I like to do "stream of consciousness" exercises. I often write these down, and over the years I have amassed quite collection of notebooks full of disconnected pages with no direction or format. Some share themes, others share forms, but there is very little that would connect them, other than the days of my life. The pages of my story. I find that it is easier to access a place that holds that stream of consciousness if I am alone, and the world is quite- like when I am in the woods. There are plenty of stories here in the woods. Each tree has a tale to tell, a lifetime of knowledge trapped in the rings of it's growth. From it's birth to the time it falls, most of the time, up here, that's a good while after it's death.
